Giant Store Explorer Program

Store Explorer Tours

Welcome to the Giant Store Explorer Program! We at Giant are committed to improving the health of children and families in our community and are excited to have teachers and their students visit our stores to learn about healthy eating.

PLEASE NOTE: Store tours are available beginning Oct. 1 and throughout the year except for November 19 through Dec. 31.

Let the exploration begin!

The USDA MyPyramid for Kids
The USDA MyPyramid for Kids is an excellent tool to help kids make healthy food choices, which is why we use it as the basis for our Store Explorer Program. To stay healthy, kids need to eat from all food groups and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. On our Tours, kids are introduced to the food groups shown on the MyPyramid for Kids food guide and encouraged to keep moving with exercises like arm circles and toe touches. Healthy Ideas
During our Store Explorer Tours, we introduce students to the Healthy Ideas symbol. Exclusive to Giant, Healthy Ideas was created by a team of nutritionists to make it easy to shop for healthy foods. You can find the Healthy Ideas symbol on more than 5,000 items throughout the store, including nearly all the fruits and vegetables in the produce department. For more information about Healthy Ideas, including the criteria, click here.

Store Explorer Tour Details
After the tour, teachers will be given a Teacher's Curriculum Guide and Poster to help them continue the lesson in their classroom before and after the tour, and each child will receive the Store Explorer Activity Guide. It includes fun activities and recipes to reinforce what they learned on their tour and share the fun with their family at home.

How to Schedule a Tour
To arrange a tour for your classroom (or community group), simply call your local store. If you have any questions please call 1-888-469-4426.
